If you are experiencing tension, stress, or pain, a massage at Inner Work may be the self-care you need.
Massage is a general term for pressing, rubbing, and manipulating the skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This practice has been used for thousands of years in many cultures to heal, soothe, and relieve physical and emotional pain.
Today, massage is offered more frequently along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations including mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress, addiction, and trauma.
Massage is effective for many reasons. Muscles and tissues are manipulated in a structured and purposeful way. This movement can help reduce pain, align the body, and decrease stress chemicals such as cortisol, while increasing feel-good hormones such as serotonin and dopamine.
I have been a trauma-informed massage therapist for 7 years. I also have lifelong family experiences with various mental health diagnoses, as well as having worked with many navigating disabilities, recovery, chronic illnesses, pregnancy, and end-of-life care. I have a special place in my heart for those finding their way. In my years of experience, I have found it to be incredibly rewarding to work with individuals who have received results from massage beyond pain reduction including improved self-esteem, increased self-awareness, clarity, focus, improved memory, mindfulness, and better sleep patterns.
Sessions with me include a treatment plan addressing your overall needs and concerns. My goal is for you to leave feeling nurtured and in a balanced state, while also addressing any physical symptoms you may be experiencing. I offer several options to make your experience ideal for your specific needs. A "relaxation massage" is ideal if you are wanting to simply relax, melt away and physically reset. This is a calm and soothing experience. I highly encourage trying out this piece of tranquility at least once! If you feel you need more specific attention to certain areas of your body to include deeper tissue stimulation and assisted stretching, I recommend booking a "therapeutic massage". Some refer to this as "deep tissue" work. We may also add hot stones to soften the tissue. I find deep massage work to be helpful for those looking to release trauma that can often be stored in our body. Hot stones are great add-ons to this service to further reduce tension and pain.
